Cork & Chitin publishes practical care guides for tarantulas, jumping spiders, isopods and springtails. Before you act on anything you read here, please read this page. It explains what our content is, what it is not, and where responsibility sits.

One important note up front: this disclaimer is a general template. It is not legal advice, and it was not drafted for your specific situation or jurisdiction. If you need legal certainty, consult a qualified attorney.

What this site is

Informational content, not professional advice

Everything on this site is written for general informational purposes. Our care sheets, problem guides and bioactive build articles reflect widely accepted hobby practice and conservative parameter ranges, but they are not veterinary advice, legal advice or professional consultation of any kind.

We give every parameter as a specific range where the literature and keeper consensus support one. Where sources disagree, we give the conservative option and say so. Where a value is not well documented, we say that instead of guessing. Even so, general guidance cannot account for your individual animal, your room conditions or your local climate.

If your animal is injured, refusing food for an unusual length of time, or showing symptoms you do not recognize, consult an exotics veterinarian where one is available. A care sheet is a starting point, not a diagnosis.

Accuracy and limits

No guarantee of completeness or accuracy

We work to keep every number on this site current and correct, and we revise guides when hobby consensus shifts. Even so, we make no warranty that the content is complete, accurate or up to date at the moment you read it.

Husbandry knowledge changes. Species are reclassified, scientific names are updated, and care recommendations evolve as keepers learn more. A care sheet reflects the best available consensus at the time of writing, not a permanent truth.

Laws also change, and they differ by state and municipality. Where we flag permit rules, for example on isopod species pages, treat that as a prompt to verify with your own state and federal authorities, not as a definitive legal answer.

Your responsibility

Limitation of liability

Keeping live animals carries inherent risk. You are responsible for the decisions you make about your own animals, enclosures and equipment.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Cork & Chitin and its authors accept no liability for any loss, injury, damage or expense arising from the use of, or reliance on, information on this site. This includes, without limitation, harm to animals, damage to property, and costs incurred through purchases made on the basis of our guides.

Nothing on this page excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

Our pages sometimes link to external sites, for example breeders, suppliers, scientific resources or regulatory agencies. These links are provided for convenience and context.

We do not control third-party websites and are not responsible for their content, accuracy, availability or privacy practices. A link is not an endorsement. When you leave this site, the terms and policies of the destination site apply.

If a linked page changes, moves or disappears, that is outside our control. Let us know and we will update or remove the reference.

In short

A final, plain note

We built this site so a keeper can get the enclosure, temperature and feeding schedule right tonight. Use it that way: as a careful, conservative starting point you verify against your own animal and your own local rules.
